1. Introduction
AreOne respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through this policy.
This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use and protect it when you use our services, including our advertising-supported blog.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide and improve our services:
- Host Data: Account and contact details (name, email) provided when you register for an AreOne account.
- Guest Data: Information you upload about your guests (names, emails, RSVP status) to use our invitation features. We treat Guest Data strictly as confidential. AreOne acts as a Data Processor for this information; we do not market to your guests or use their data for our own purposes.
- Technical Data: Diagnostics, cookies, and usage metadata required for platform reliability, security, and performance.
- Advertising Data: On advertising-supported pages, advertising partners may process IP address, browser and device information, page URLs, approximate location, and ad interactions to deliver, measure, and protect advertisements. This does not include your guest lists or invitation content.
3. How We Use Data
We use collected data to deliver, maintain, secure, and improve AreOne services.
- To operate invitation, RSVP, and guest-management features.
- To send service notifications and support communications.
- To improve product quality, performance, and abuse prevention.
- To display, measure, and protect advertising on our public blog, subject to your consent and applicable law.
4. Data Sharing & Third-Party Processors
We do not sell your personal information, nor do we market our services directly to your guests. Data is only shared with trusted third-party processors strictly necessary to operate AreOne, including:
- Payment Gateways: (e.g., Stripe, PayPal) to securely process your checkout. We do not store your full credit card numbers on our servers.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Secure hosting providers that store your event data and deliver the website content.
- Advertising Partners: Google AdSense and any similar networks we enable may process limited technical and advertising data on public blog pages. We do not provide them with AreOne account details, guest lists, RSVP responses, or invitation content.
All third parties operate under strict data protection agreements in compliance with applicable privacy laws.
6. Advertising & Cookie Choices
You can control non-essential cookies and advertising through AreOne and third-party controls.
- AreOne Cookie Banner: Choose “Decline Non-Essential” to prevent non-essential analytics and advertising scripts from loading, or “Accept All” to allow them. You can clear the
ao_cookie_consentbrowser storage entry to make a new choice. - Google Ad Settings: Visit adssettings.google.com to manage personalized advertising associated with Google.
- Industry Opt-Out: Visit the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page for participating advertising companies.
- Global Privacy Control: If your browser sends a GPC signal and no prior AreOne choice is stored, AreOne treats non-essential consent as declined.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or similar laws, you may have rights concerning personal data processed by AreOne.
- Request access to and a copy of personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
- Request deletion or restriction where the applicable law provides that right.
- Request data portability in a structured, commonly used format where applicable.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
- Object to certain processing, including direct marketing and some forms of targeted advertising.
- Appeal or lodge a complaint with the relevant privacy or data-protection authority.
California residents may have the right to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” and cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA. AreOne does not sell account or guest data; certain advertising technology activity may nevertheless be treated as “sharing” under California law.
8. Data Security
We apply administrative, technical, and operational controls designed to protect data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, and misuse.
